Miro and Sun Java Plugin errors on Gutsy

I installed Miro the new Democracy player on my Gutsy laptop today. Unfortunately, when I fired it up, it spewed a long list of errors ending in /usr/bin/python: symbol lookup error: /opt/sun-jdk-1.6.0.03/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so: undefined symbol: PR_NewMonitor Googling led me to this forum post, which references this bug report.
