Good day

Geocaching.com
Had a great day in the field today. Started out and hit a rest stop on I-95 for the first cache of the day (and bloody legs from the thorns), and ended up finding the remaining three caches at Lake Benson Park in Garner, NC.

Caches Found:

  1. Cross Country Cache
  2. Kids Pockets
  3. Sneaky Hollow
  4. The Junk Box Cache

Been interesting observing how closely to the final target the GPS puts me. For the most part, the Garmin eTrex Legend that I’ve been using reads approximately 20 feet from the destination, that is, while standing over a cache, the Legend tells me I am 20 feet away from the expected coordinates. I’m not aware of anything that can be tuned in them, so I’m attributing this behavior to the general performance of the device under heavier cover. Some on Geocaching.com recommend the Magellan GPS’s for better performance in this area. Might have to try out one of those. Recommendations?
