After unsuccessfully trying to catch a glimpse of ISS as it passed overhead today, I came in and searched for another Satellite Tracking/Prediction application which would run under Windows XP. Unfortunately, my favorite, STSOrbit Plus, aka STSPlus, is a DOS application and I have thus far been unable to get it to run under WindowsXP. So, what did I find?
I found a pretty decent, graphical, application called Orbitron. This application, which runs flawlessly under WinXP, is cardware and is available directly from Sebastian Stoff’s website. While I haven’t done any serious testing to determine or validate the accuracy of the application, it certainly seems to be in the ballpark as far as the computations go. It will also automatically update both itself, and, more importantly, the TLE’s.
